Solution Focused Hypnotherapy
Where & how can it help?
What Can Hypnotherapy Help With?
This approach is often used to support issues linked to anxiety & how the mind responds to it. That might include things like anxiety, sleep difficulties, overthinking, or feeling overwhelmed or not quite yourself. It can also be helpful for low confidence, fears or phobias, & other patterns that can build over time.

You can explore these in more detail below:
What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?
If things haven’t been feeling quite right for a while — whether that’s anxiety, poor sleep, a busy mind or just feeling not quite yourself — it can be hard to know where to start.

Solution focused hypnotherapy offers a practical way to begin making sense of what’s been going on and how things can begin to change.

I work with clients face to face from Huddersfield & surrounding areas as well as online across the UK.

Solution focused hypnotherapy combines psychotherapy, coaching & hypnotherapy. It’s a forward-focused approach that helps you understand how your mind is working & how things can change.

The psychotherapy element is based on solution focused brief therapy and draws on elements of CBT & NLP, where the approaches align.

It’s designed to help the brain move out of patterns linked to stress and into patterns that support clearer thinking and a greater sense of control.

Rather than analysing problems in depth, the focus is on:
-
understanding how your mind is working
-
noticing what’s already starting to shift
-
building small, manageable steps forward

How Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Works
The science tells us that when negative beliefs & thoughts build up, the brain becomes more focused on potential problems and less able to think clearly.

This is why things start to feel overwhelming, harder to switch off & more challenging than usual. Sleep can be affected, thoughts can become repetitive and confidence can dip.

Solution focused hypnotherapy works by helping to gently rebalance this & each session is structured to keep things simple and manageable:
-
we begin by focusing on what’s been going well
-
we look at how the brain is responding, so things start to make sense
-
we agree small, realistic steps forward
-
the session finishes with hypnotherapy, guiding you into a calm, focused state to embed all the great work you've done in the session.

Over time, this helps the brain become less reactive & more balanced, so you think more clearly & feel more in control again.
Why this approach works
“I had been struggling with anxiety and overthinking for a long time and didn’t really understand why. Sue explained everything so clearly — it just started to make sense. Each week I felt calmer, more in control and able to deal with things in a way I hadn’t before.”
This approach is based on how the brain responds to stress and how it can begin to respond differently over time.

Rather than focusing on problems, it helps the brain shift towards noticing what’s working and building on it in a practical way.

The combination of understanding how the mind works, taking small, manageable steps and reinforcing this in a calm, focused state helps those changes start to feel more natural.

It’s not about big changes all at once, but small shifts that build over time.
Finally I guide you into a relaxed, focused state — something you naturally move in & out of every day.
When you’re absorbed in a book, watching TV, or driving on autopilot.

Your mind becomes calmer, less busy, making it easier for your brain to process new information & reinforce helpful thinking.

When anxiety levels are high, the brain is more alert & reactive. The relaxed state allows it to settle, making it easier for the work we’ve done in the session to embed.

You remain aware & in control & you won’t be made to do anything you don’t want to do.

My clients describe feeling calm, settled & mentally quieter — although everyone experiences it slightly differently. There’s no ‘right’ way to experience it — it’s simply a natural part of the process.
What Does Hypnosis Feel Like?
“I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it just felt really calm and relaxing. I was aware the whole time and actually looked forward to that part of the session each week.”
“The relaxed part of the session was nothing like I imagined. I felt completely at ease, aware of everything, and just really calm — it became something I really valued each week.”
